The Machakos County Public Service Board is seeking to recruit a dedicated and qualified ECDE Teacher for Kiluluini Feeder School. The successful candidate will be responsible for the holistic development of young learners, providing high-quality instruction and mentoring within the Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) framework, specifically focusing on the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Duties and Responsibilities
Holistic Development: Nurture young learners physically, emotionally, and socially.
Instruction & Mentoring: Provide teaching and mentorship to learners.
Routine Management: Develop daily schedules and enforce routines to ensure adequate physical activity and rest.
Educational Planning: Create schemes of work and detailed lesson notes.
Administrative Duties: Facilitate the registration of learners and maintain accurate health and progress reports.
Health Coordination: Liaise with the Ministry of Health for student welfare initiatives such as deworming programs.
Learning Environment: Maintain a safe, comfortable, and conducive ECDE learning environment.
Supervision & Discipline: Provide age-appropriate supervision and guidance.
Parental Communication: Communicate student behavior and developmental progress to parents or guardians regularly.
Instructional Techniques: Utilize play-based methods, storytelling, and rhyming games to enhance learning.
Inclusivity: Identify and cater to learners with special needs.
Community Engagement: Sensitize the community regarding Early Years Education (EYE).
Other Tasks: Perform any other duties assigned by the Head Teacher or Sub-County Officers.
Requirements for Appointment
Professional Registration: Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and possess a valid TSC number.
Academic Qualifications: A minimum academic grade of D+ (plus) and above in KCSE.
Professional Training: Must be a trained ECDE teacher with a minimum professional qualification from the Ministry of Education or a KNEC Certificate in Early Childhood Education. A Diploma in ECDE is an added advantage.
Language Proficiency: Must be fluent and eloquent in the National official languages.
Age Requirement: Must be 45 years of age and below.
Curriculum Knowledge: Demonstrated competency in the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Work Experience: Must have a minimum of three (3) years of working experience in an ECDE Center or equivalent.
Digital Literacy: Must be computer literate.
