The Machakos County Public Service Board is seeking a dedicated ECDE Teacher for Kilatu Primary. The primary objective of this role is to nurture young learners holistically, providing them with a strong foundation through the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). The teacher will be responsible for both instructional duties and the general welfare of the children in an Early Childhood Development and Education setting.
Responsibilities and Duties
Holistic Nurturing: Teach and mentor young learners to ensure their physical, emotional, and intellectual growth.
Routine Management: Develop daily schedules and enforce routines that balance learning with adequate physical activity and rest.
Curriculum Planning: Develop schemes of work and comprehensive lesson notes aligned with educational standards.
Administrative Tasks: Ensure the registration of all learners and maintain accurate records of their progress and health reports.
Health Coordination: Liaise with the Ministry of Health for student health interventions, such as deworming programs.
Environment Maintenance: Create and maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable learning environment for the children.
Supervision and Discipline: Provide age-appropriate supervision and guidance to students.
Parental Engagement: Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding their child's behavior and development through detailed reports.
Instructional Techniques: Utilize play-based learning, storytelling, and rhyming games to enhance the learning experience.
Inclusive Education: Identify and cater to the needs of learners with special educational requirements.
Community Outreach: Sensitize the local community on the importance of Early Years Education (EYE).
Additional Duties: Perform any other relevant tasks as assigned by the Head Teacher or Sub-County Officers.
Requirements for Appointment
Professional Registration: Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and possess a valid TSC number.
Academic Standards: Minimum academic qualification of KCSE grade D+ and above.
Professional Training: Must be a trained ECDE teacher with at least a Certificate in Early Childhood Education from the Ministry of Education or KNEC; a Diploma is an added advantage.
Language Proficiency: Must be fluent and eloquent in the national official languages.
Age Limit: Applicants should be 45 years of age and below.
Curriculum Knowledge: Demonstrated competency in the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of working experience in an ECDE Center or an equivalent educational setting.
Technical Skills: Must be computer literate.
