The ECDE Teacher for Kavunyo Primary at Machakos County Public Service Board is responsible for the holistic development of young learners. The role involves implementing the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC), maintaining high standards of child health and safety, and fostering positive community relations to support Early Years Education. Duties and responsibilities include nurturing young learners holistically, teaching and mentoring, developing schedules and enforcing routines, creating schemes of work and lesson notes, and ensuring registration of learners. The teacher is also expected to maintain progress and health reports, liaise with health authorities for deworming, provide age-appropriate supervision and discipline, and communicate development to parents. Inclusion of special needs learners and community sensitization on Early Years Education are also key components of this role.
Responsibilities
Nurture young learners holistically and provide age-appropriate supervision and discipline.
Plan and deliver lessons using storytelling, rhyming games, and other instructional techniques.
Develop schemes of work, lesson notes, and schedules for physical activities and rest.
Ensure the registration of all learners and maintain updated health and progress reports.
Liaise with the Ministry of Health for student welfare programs like deworming.
Maintain a safe and conducive learning environment.
Communicate child development and behavior to parents or guardians through reports.
Address and cater to learners with special needs.
Sensitize the community on the importance of Early Years Education (EYE).
Perform any other duty assigned by the Head Teacher or Sub-County Officers.
Requirements
Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) with a valid TSC number.
Minimum academic qualification: KCSE Grade D+ and above.
Trained ECDE teacher with a minimum professional qualification: Ministry of Education or KNEC Certificate in Early Childhood Education (Diploma is an added advantage).
Fluent and eloquent in the National official Languages.
Should be 45 years of age and below.
Competency in (CBC) curriculum.
Applicant must have working experience in an ECDE Center or equivalent for a minimum period of three (3) years.
Computer literate.
