The ECDE Teacher for Ianguni Primary is responsible for the holistic nurturing and education of young learners at the school. This role involves teaching and mentoring learners, developing schedules, and enforcing routines to ensure adequate physical activity and rest. The teacher will also be responsible for implementing the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and maintaining a safe learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Holistic Nurturing: Nurture young learners to ensure their overall social, physical, and emotional growth.
Instructional Delivery: Teach and mentor learners using play and instructional techniques such as storytelling and rhyming games to enhance learning.
Classroom Management: Develop schemes of work, lesson notes, and enforce daily routines for learners.
Administrative Duties: Ensure registration of learners and maintain accurate progress and health reports.
Health Coordination: Liaise with the Ministry of Health for programs like deworming and monitor health-related issues.
Environment Safety: Maintain a safe, comfortable, and age-appropriate ECDE learning environment.
Communication: Regularly report learners' behavior and developmental progress to parents or guardians.
Special Education: Address and cater to the needs of learners with special requirements.
Community Engagement: Sensitize the local community on the importance of Early Years Education (EYE).
Additional Tasks: Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head Teacher or Sub-County Officers.
Requirements for Appointment
TSC Registration: Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission and possess a valid TSC number.
Academic Qualification: A minimum academic qualification of D+ (plus) and above in KCSE.
Professional Training: Must be a trained ECDE teacher with a minimum professional qualification (Certificate or Diploma in Early Childhood Education) from the Ministry of Education or KNEC. A Diploma is an added advantage.
Language Proficiency: Must be fluent and eloquent in the National official languages.
Age Limit: Applicants should be 45 years of age and below.
Curriculum Knowledge: Demonstrated competency in the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of working experience in an ECDE Center or equivalent setting.
IT Skills: Must be computer literate.
