The Machakos County Public Service Board is seeking a qualified and dedicated Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) Teacher for Daystar Mulandi ECDE. The primary objective of this role is to provide holistic care, mentorship, and foundational education to young learners within the county.
Key Responsibilities
Holistic Development: Nurture young learners physically, mentally, and socially.
Instruction: Teach and mentor learners using age-appropriate techniques.
Routine Management: Develop schedules and enforce routines to ensure learners receive adequate physical activity and rest.
Curriculum Planning: Develop schemes of work and lesson notes in line with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Record Keeping: Ensure registration of learners and maintain comprehensive progress and health reports.
Health Coordination: Liaise with the Ministry of Health for deworming programs and other health-related interventions.
Environment Safety: Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable ECDE learning environment.
Supervision: Provide age-appropriate supervision and discipline.
Parental Engagement: Communicate learners' behavior and developmental progress to parents or guardians through regular reports.
Teaching Techniques: Use play-based and instructional techniques such as storytelling and rhyming games to enhance the learning experience.
Inclusive Education: Address and cater to the needs of learners with special needs.
Community Advocacy: Sensitize the community on the importance of Early Years Education (EYE).
General Duties: Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head Teacher or Sub-County Officers.
Requirements for Appointment
Professional Registration: Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and have a valid TSC number.
Academic Qualification: Minimum academic qualification of KCSE Grade D+ and above.
Professional Training: Must be a trained ECDE teacher with a minimum professional qualification (Certificate in Early Childhood Education from the Ministry of Education or KNEC). A Diploma qualification is an added advantage.
Language Proficiency: Must be fluent and eloquent in the National official languages.
Age: Should be 45 years of age and below.
Curriculum Knowledge: Demonstrated competency in the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Experience: Applicant must have a minimum of three (3) years of working experience in an ECDE Center or an equivalent setting.
Digital Literacy: Must be computer literate.
