Job Description
The Kisumu National Polytechnic is seeking a qualified Driver to join its team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of institutional vehicles, ensuring the well-being of passengers and the security of goods transported. This role involves both driving duties and basic mechanical maintenance responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Safely driving motor vehicles as authorized by the institution.
Carrying out minor mechanical repairs and routine maintenance tasks such as oiling and greasing.
Ensuring the security of the vehicle both on and off the road.
Safeguarding the safety of passengers and any goods being transported.
Maintaining the cleanliness of the assigned vehicles at all times.
Conducting routine checks on the vehicle's cooling, oil, electrical, and brake systems, as well as monitoring tire pressure.
Detecting and promptly reporting any malfunctioning of vehicle systems to the relevant authority.
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date work tickets for the assigned vehicle.
Requirements and Qualifications
Minimum qualification of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Mean Grade C- (Minus).
At least ten (10) years of professional driving experience in either a public or private sector organization.
A valid driving license free from any current endorsements for the specific classes of vehicles required to drive.
Must have passed a suitability/Practical occupational trade test Grade II.
Demonstrated merit and ability in driving and vehicle maintenance.
Possession of a refresher course certificate for drivers (lasting at least one week) obtained within every three (3) years from a recognized institution.
Possession of a First Aid Certificate from a recognized institution (course lasting not less than one week).
