Job Description
The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development is inviting qualified, experienced, and dynamic individuals to apply for the position of Driver. This role is based within the Regional Programme Coordination and Management Unit (RPCMU) in Kisumu. The primary objective of the Ministry is to ensure 100% Food and Nutrition Security and to enhance the livelihoods of rural Kenyans by transforming the agricultural sector into a competitive, commercially oriented, and economically responsive industry.
Responsibilities
Safe operation of motor vehicles for authorized personnel and cargo transportation.
Routine vehicle maintenance and daily checks (fluids, tires, brakes, etc.) to ensure roadworthiness.
Maintaining accurate vehicle logs, including mileage and fuel consumption records.
Ensuring the cleanliness and security of the assigned vehicle at all times.
Adhering strictly to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and Ministry protocols.
Reporting any mechanical issues or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
Requirements and Qualifications
Applicants must possess relevant academic qualifications (as specified in detailed job descriptions on the Ministry website or portal).
Valid driving license with appropriate class endorsements for the type of vehicle assigned.
Professional driving certifications are highly desirable.
Practical experience in driving and basic vehicle maintenance is required.
Compliance with Chapter Six of the Kenyan Constitution (e.g., Certificate of Good Conduct).
