Job Description
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Digital Project Manager/Coordinator to join its Communications Division. This role is focused on supporting the effective planning, coordination, and digital delivery of communications projects, with a particular emphasis on digital tool adoption, process improvement, and workflow management. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Head of Social Media to enhance cross-team collaboration and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination: Act as the primary coordinator for the language team, ensuring that translation and review timelines are seamlessly integrated into overall project schedules.
Workflow Management: Facilitate workflows between language teams and content originators to manage turnaround times, priorities, and quality assurance. Map existing workflows across advocacy, language, editorial, design, web, multimedia, and social media teams to identify inefficiencies and gaps.
Standardization: Develop, document, and implement Standardized Operating Procedures (SOPs) for recurring processes such as content review, translation requests, approvals, and publishing. Ensure harmonization of terminology, style guide usage, and editorial standards across different language versions.
Digital Tools & Collaboration: Serve as the focal point for project management and collaboration tools (e.g., Trello, SharePoint, or equivalent UN systems). Support staff onboarding by developing user guides and quick-reference materials. Evaluate new tools or platforms to improve divisional efficiency.
Deliverable Tracking: Monitor deliverables, deadlines, and dependencies across multiple teams and workstreams. Facilitate regular coordination meetings, prepare agendas, and circulate meeting notes and action items.
Documentation: Maintain a centralized repository of project documentation, templates, and reference materials accessible to all team members.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: A Master’s degree in journalism, communication, international relations, social sciences, or a related field is required. A Bachelor’s degree in combination with two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the Master’s degree.
Experience: A minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible experience in project management within a communications, media, or international organization setting is required.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in using project management and collaboration tools (e.g., Trello, SharePoint) is required. Familiarity with translation management systems, content management systems (CMS), or digital asset management (DAM) platforms is highly desirable. Familiarity with UN system processes and terminology is a plus.
