Job Description
The Data Officer will be responsible for managing and ensuring the integrity of study-generated data through rigorous quality control and audit procedures. This role involves the full lifecycle of data management, from collection and cleaning to database maintenance and reporting. Additionally, the Data Officer provides essential technical support, including hardware configuration and network troubleshooting, to ensure that technology systems are reliable and accessible for research staff.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct routine data quality and control audit controls on study-generated data.
Perform data quality and control procedures to ensure accuracy.
Compile, clean, and transcribe data onto databases, and submit regular data reports to research investigators.
Coordinate various ancillary studies on-site to ensure data consistency.
Prepare daily and weekly progress reports for management.
Install and configure computer hardware, software systems, networks, printers, and scanners.
Ensure all technology is accessible and equipped with the latest hardware and software versions.
Troubleshoot all technology issues, including hardware, software, and network operating system failures.
Design, improve, and update live databases for long-term data storage and secure backups.
Manage scanning, filing of records, and archival systems in accordance with department procedures.
Provide training and orientation to new users and staff on various technologies and systems.
Train staff on institutional guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field connected to data management studies.
Professional certification in courses related to analytic skills and database management.
Strong expertise in data management and statistical analysis skills.
Proficiency in database development and maintenance.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
