The role of the County Chief Officer for Trade and Industry is an executive administrative position, crucial for driving economic development within the county. The CCO serves as the authorized officer and accounting officer for the specific department and reports directly to the respective County Executive Committee Member.
Duties and Responsibilities
Specific duties for this senior administrative position include:
- Administration of the county department (Trade and Industry).
- Formulation and implementation of programs designed to attain Kenya Vision 2030 goals and sector-specific targets.
- Development and implementation of strategic plans and sector development plans.
- Implementation of relevant policies and regulations.
- Providing strategic policy direction for effective service delivery.
- Ensuring strict compliance with the National Values and Principles of Good Governance and Values and Principles of Public Service as outlined in Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
- Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements for Appointment
Candidates applying for this position must meet the following criteria:
- Be a Kenyan citizen.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree from a University recognized in Kenya. Possession of a Master’s degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
- Have vast knowledge and experience of not less than 10 years in the relevant field, 5 of which must be in a senior/managerial position in a large organization.
- Must be registered with a relevant professional body (where applicable).
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of county development objectives and Kenya Vision 2030.
- Be a strategic thinker and results-oriented.
- Possess excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Have capacity to work under pressure to meet strict timelines.
- Have ability to work effectively in a multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
- Demonstrate understanding and commitment to the National Values and Principles of Governance and Values and Principles of Public Service as outlined in Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution of Kenya.
- Be computer literate.
