Job Description
The Clerk Grade 3 will be responsible for ensuring that all trucks are checked according to the client’s protocols. The role involves executing logistical processes in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring all necessary documentation and data are in place, and supporting the objectives of the Business Unit.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Analyze and understand health and safety-related risks for both own-fleet and subcontracted drivers, taking action to reduce or eliminate these risks.
Maintain a safe, secure, clean, and fair work environment at all times.
Ensure compliance among drivers, ensuring they understand and comply with all site rules and regulations.
Check and verify that goods are well-stacked on proper wooden pallets before loading onto trucks.
Count and reconcile all packages being loaded into trucks.
Ensure trucks are properly sealed before dispatch.
Timely escalate any issues arising with the truck on duty to the Transport Lead.
Ensure all trucks are loaded accurately as per order quantities.
Supervise the loading and offloading processes.
Ensure drivers are issued with all relevant documents, including ERN/GRN and Hauler copies.
Ensure all drivers hand in their PODs within set times and report any notable issues immediately.
Prevent non-conforming goods or products (e.g., shortages or breakages) from being loaded.
Provide feedback channels for drivers to enable active contribution to operational improvements.
Assist in supervising drivers to ensure they actively support the loading process and queue effectively for access to NCD loading/offloading bays.
Make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment and communicate clearly regarding loading/offloading delays.
Record and maintain daily workload data.
Ensure cartons and pallets conform to required standards and are free from damage.
Follow instructions and prioritize tasks based on production and shipping schedules.
Education, Experience, and Skills
High school/Secondary education (KCSE).
Previous experience in data clerical work.
A Diploma or Certificate in Logistics, Freight Forwarding, or Purchasing & Supply Chain is highly desirable.
A University degree is desirable.
Possession of a valid driving license is an added advantage.
