About the Role
The Chief Registered Nurse is a senior leadership position within the Taita Taveta County health sector, operating under the Public Service Board. This role is intended for an experienced nursing professional who has demonstrated exceptional clinical competence and administrative capability. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and evaluating nursing and healthcare standards, managing healthcare programs, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care services across the county's health facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide senior-level leadership and administrative oversight for nursing services.
Establish, implement, and evaluate nursing and healthcare standards and programs to ensure service quality and safety.
Oversee the deployment and professional development of nursing staff within the county.
Monitor clinical performance and patient outcomes, initiating improvements where necessary.
Ensure all nursing practices comply with the guidelines set by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Coordinate with other health department heads to streamline service delivery and resource allocation.
Provide expert advice on nursing policy and healthcare administration to the County Health Management Team.
Requirements for Appointment
A minimum of eight (8) years of professional experience in the nursing field.
A Diploma in any of the following disciplines from a recognized institution:
Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing
Kenya Registered Nursing
Kenya Registered Midwifery
Kenya Registered Nursing/Midwifery
Kenya Registered Nursing/Mental Health and Psychiatry
A Registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
A valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Demonstrated high degree of professional competence and administrative capability.
Broad experience in setting and evaluating nursing and healthcare standards and programs.

Salary: Based on the basic salary scale provided by the Salaries and Remunerations Commission (SRC).
