Job Description
The Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) is an autonomous public institute that serves as a hub for public policy research and analysis. The Institute is seeking a qualified individual for the role of Assistant Director, Nutrition and Dietetics within the Nutrition and Dietetics Division. This is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing research outputs, providing technical advisory services, and managing strategic partnerships to influence public policy.
Responsibilities
Coordinating the delivery of research-oriented outputs as per set targets.
Coordinating technical advisory in public policy research and analysis to stakeholders.
Coordinating resource mobilization and implementation of contracted projects.
Organizing effective dissemination of research outputs.
Promoting quality control processes of research outputs.
Promoting partnerships and collaborative research with stakeholders.
Reviewing performance, efficiency, and impact of Department functions and providing guidance on improvements.
Coordinating corporate consultation, public participation, and stakeholder engagement in the Institute’s programs and policies.
Supervising risk management, ensuring robust systems for accountability, business continuity, and internal controls.
Implementing corporate governance principles, corruption prevention strategies, and adherence to relevant national policies and directives.
Promoting staff motivation, teamwork, and a culture of ethical practices and good governance.
Supervising annual work plans, budgets, and performance management frameworks for the department.
Organizing timely and efficient implementation of the Department’s work plans.
Maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders, including policymakers, development partners, and research institutions.
Reviewing public policies and strategies.
Reviewing all research outputs from the Department to ensure alignment with the Institute’s mandate.
Organizing the Department’s dissemination activities and calendar.
Undertaking project planning, budgeting, and implementation within the Department.
Executing partnership activities in line with the Institute’s priorities.
Reviewing the preparation of quarterly and annual reports for management and the Board.
Qualifications and Requirements
A cumulative service period of twelve (12) years, with at least three (3) years at the grade of Senior Policy Analyst or in a comparable position.
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Public Policy, Development Studies, Law, Engineering, Geo-Spatial Information Science, Urban Planning, Gender, Nutrition, Food Science, International Relations, Political Science, Public Administration, Social Policy, Public Health, Public Finance, Environmental Studies, or a related field from a recognized institution.
Master’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Public Policy, Development Studies, Law, Engineering, Geo-Spatial Information Science, Urban Planning, Gender, Nutrition, Food Science, International Relations, Political Science, Public Administration, Social Policy, Public Health, Public Finance, Environmental Studies, or a related field from a recognized institution.
Completion of a management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
A minimum of three (3) publications in peer-reviewed journals, books, or book chapters.
A minimum of four (4) published research papers or reports.
Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
