Adult Neurologist

The Adult Neurologist will be responsible for providing specialized care for adults with neurological disorders, integrating diagnostics, medical therapy, and multidisciplinary rehabilitation to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage various neurological conditions including epilepsy, stroke, movement disorders, neuromuscular diseases, headaches, demyelinating, and neurodegenerative disorders.
• Interpret diagnostic tests such as EEG, EMG/NCS, and neuroimaging (MRI/CT scans).
• Coordinate additional diagnostic procedures where required.
• Provide inpatient consultations and acute neurology input.
• Conduct outpatient clinics for long-term patient management.
• Develop individualized treatment plans and secondary prevention strategies.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including neurosurgery, rehabilitation, psychiatry, and internal medicine.
• Participate in the development of clinical guidelines, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Teach and mentor trainees in the field of adult neurology.
• Engage in clinical research and maintain registries for neurological disorders.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
• Master of Medicine (MMed) in Internal Medicine from a recognized institution.
• Fellowship or sub-specialty training in Neurology recognized by KMPDC.
• Current registration and specialist/sub-specialist recognition by KMPDC.
• Valid Practice License and Indemnity Cover.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Compliance with the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
