Job Description
Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital (KUTRRH) is seeking a specialized Adult Haemato-oncologist to join its multidisciplinary medical team. The purpose of this role is to provide specialized care for adult patients with haematologic malignancies and disorders, including systemic therapy and multidisciplinary coordination.
Duties and Responsibilities
Diagnosis and Management: Diagnose and manage leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma, and related disorders; stage disease and assess risk.
Treatment Planning: Plan and administer systemic anti-cancer therapy; monitor efficacy and toxicity.
Care Coordination: Coordinate transfusion support, stem cell transplantation referrals, and supportive care.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Lead/participate in Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) tumour boards and evidence-based care planning.
Patient Care: Provide inpatient and outpatient haemato-oncology services including urgent care.
Communication: Communicate diagnoses, treatment options, and prognosis with patients and families.
Quality Improvement: Contribute to audits, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
Mentorship: Teach and mentor trainees in oncology/haematology principles.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
MMed in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, Clinical Haematology, or other relevant qualification from an institution recognized by KMPDC.
Fellowship or sub-specialty training in Haemato-oncology recognized by KMPDC.
Full registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
Recognition as a specialist/sub-specialist by KMPDC.
Retention in the KMPDC register with a valid Practice License.
Valid Professional Indemnity Cover.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Compliance with Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
