Browns Plantations is seeking a skilled Welder for its operations in Kericho. The role entails repairing metal structures using welding equipment and techniques. It involves interpreting technical drawings, preparing materials, and ensuring high-quality welds while adhering to safety standards and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain machinery components and parts by metal fusion.
Fabricate designed components as per business requirements.
Contribute to simple designs based on operational needs.
Carry out welding and fabrication tasks as assigned by the workshop supervisor.
Read, interpret, and implement engineering drawings accurately.
Perform welding using MIG, TIG, and arc welding techniques.
Carry out assessments and develop bills of quantities for specific works.
Ensure the safe custody of assigned company tools.
Maintain a deep understanding of material mechanical properties and select correct welding rods for specific tasks.
Account for all materials issued for specific jobs.
Keep abreast with new technologies to improve skills and competence.
Cascade practical welding knowledge to colleagues and apprentices.
Ensure proper use and maintenance of welding equipment and workshop tools.
Utilize measuring instruments such as calipers and measuring tapes to meet product standard requirements.
Fit and assemble metal parts, including the brazing of parts.
Adhere strictly to safety protocols and procedures.
Requirements
Certificate in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering (with a bias in welding and fabrication) or equivalent (BA/BSc/HND).
Minimum of 2 years' experience in a busy manufacturing or workshop environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision.
Strong knowledge of industrial machinery.
Demonstrated supervisory skills.
Knowledge of Computer CAD will be an added advantage.
