The Ungraded Artisan (Painting & Sign Writing Works) is responsible for undertaking various painting and signage tasks on Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company buildings and installations. This role involves interpreting building plans, preparing materials, and ensuring quality finishes for company infrastructure maintenance.
Responsibilities and Duties
Reading and interpreting building plans, layouts, and elevation drawings.
Preparing painting materials and labour estimates for Bills of Quantities and cost estimation.
Inspecting the quality and quantity of paints and painting tools supplied by vendors.
Preparing surfaces to receive paints through cleaning, sanding, or filling.
Selecting and mixing paints to achieve specific desired colours and signage requirements.
Applying fillers, paints, and varnish to surfaces for protection and aesthetic purposes.
Liaising with plumbers, electricians, and fellow painters during the execution of comprehensive building works.
Guiding and supervising labourers during building and maintenance work.
Academic Qualifications and Experience
At least a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum mean grade of 'D-' (Minus) or its equivalent.
Possession of a Trade Test Grade III or above in painting and sign writing is an added advantage.
Practical on-the-job experience in painting and sign writing is considered a significant benefit.
