The Underwriting Analyst is responsible for the effective processing of underwriting documents, verification of client data, and assessment of proposed risks within set standards. The role holder will manage the lifecycle of insurance policies, from quotation to issuance and renewal, ensuring high standards of customer service and strict adherence to governance and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Risk Assessment: Assess proposed risks within set standards to accurately determine the level of risk the business is taking.
Policy Documentation: Handle policy generation, motor certificate issuance, and the preparation of policy documents.
Policy Administration: Manage policy endorsements, reconciliations, renewals, debiting, and cancellations.
Quotations and Cover Notes: Issue professional quotations and cover notes to prospective and existing clients.
Record Keeping: Keep detailed and accurate records of all policies underwritten and decisions made.
Customer Service: Maintain high standards of customer service by responding to client enquiries (walk-in, telephone, and email) and efficiently addressing their issues.
Client Advisory: Assist clients in identifying products (policies) that suit their needs in line with insurance principles.
Stakeholder Management: Liaise with intermediaries and direct clients on issues related to their policies to provide correct information.
Financial Compliance: Apply the credit control policy and ensure that debit/credit notes are raised in the correct month to facilitate collection.
Data Management: Ensure proper filing of client information (manual and electronic) for easy retrieval.
Governance: Embrace governance requirements regarding KYC, AML, and Data protection requirements per governing Acts.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Finance, Economics, or another business-related discipline.
Professional Certification: Progress towards a Diploma in Insurance (ACII or AIIK), with at least 3 papers or equivalent completed.
Experience: Up to 2 years’ experience in the insurance or financial services industry.
