One Acre Fund is a nonprofit organization that supplies smallholder farmers in East Africa with asset-based financing and agriculture training services to reduce hunger and poverty. We are seeking a Tupande Audit Lead to oversee the audit function in Kenya. You will be responsible for strategic leadership, risk assessment, and ensuring audit excellence across the organization's multi-site operations. This role involves leading a team of auditors, developing annual audit plans, and presenting findings to senior management and the Board. Responsibilities
Strategic Audit Leadership
- Develop the annual audit plan for the country and team.
- Identify and assess audit risks within the country and develop appropriate audit responses.
- Manage audit activities relative to budget, ensuring timely execution.
Engagement and Reporting
- Conduct regular risk meetings with department heads and division leads.
- Present findings and risk areas to the Board and senior management.
- Maintain accountability for audit findings and ensure appropriate resolution by management.
Leadership & Development
- Lead a team of in-country auditors.
- Implement tailored learning and development programs based on local risk profiles and audit plans.
- Promote performance through setting and monitoring of team-level goals.
Audit Excellence
- Ensure execution of audits while observing professional standards.
- Monitor the effectiveness of financial controls and recommend improvements.
- Escalate critical findings with clear solutions.
- Build relationships across teams to enhance audit effectiveness and facilitate resolution of findings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, commerce, finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or CIA is required.
- 5–7 years' experience in internal auditing, including team leadership.
- Experience developing audit plans, assessing risks, and resolving findings.
- Retail or similar multi-site operational experience.
- Inventory audit experience.
- Strong management skills and excellent risk assessment capabilities.
- Ability to influence and deliver feedback at all levels, including senior management and boards.
- A collaborative mindset.
