The Tax Accountant will lead the management of all tax-related matters for the organization, ensuring full business compliance and strict adherence to tax regulations and governance standards within the East African region. The role involves providing strategic tax advice and maintaining robust internal controls to mitigate exposures.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Advisory: Provide expert advice and guidance on all tax matters in alignment with government regulations and applicable laws.
Efficiency & Mitigation: Optimize tax efficiencies and mitigate potential tax exposures within the company's control environment.
Legislative Monitoring: Provide timely advisory on impending legislative changes and assess their potential impact on the business operations.
Internal Controls: Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process.
Compliance & Filing: Ensure the timely and accurate submission of all statutory tax returns.
Audit Management: Manage and coordinate external tax audits and inquiries from regulatory bodies.
Ledger Maintenance: Maintain accurate tax balances on the general ledger.
Performance Reviews: Conduct regular tax reviews and assessments to identify and implement areas of improvement.
Capacity Building: Enhance internal communication regarding tax matters and conduct training for staff where appropriate.
Requirements
Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Economics, Law (LLB), or any other related field.
Certification: Full professional certification in CPA (K) or ACCA.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar tax-focused role, with a preference for candidates from the Oil & Gas industry.
Knowledge: Thorough understanding of tax accounting procedures, principles, and Kenyan tax laws. Exposure to broader regional tax frameworks is an added advantage.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in professional report writing and strong analytical capabilities.
Soft Skills: High attention to detail, ability to meet strict deadlines, and excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
