Tourism Officer I

The Tourism Officer I is responsible for the identification, documentation, and promotion of tourism resources and enterprises within Nandi County. The role involves working closely with various stakeholders to enhance the county's tourism profile, ensuring the quality of facilities, and maintaining accurate statistical data to support the development of the local tourism industry.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Identifying and documenting tourism products within the county.
• Identifying small and medium tourism enterprises (SMTEs) and community-based tourism projects.
• Liaising with tourism stakeholders on issues related to the tourism sector.
• Inspecting and preparing reports on tourism facilities and service providers.
• Collecting and compiling information on tourism facilities and services for the development of tourism guidebooks.
• Undertaking domestic tourism promotion activities.
• Collecting and maintaining data on tourism statistics.
• Maintaining a register on tourism facilities and services.
• Identifying suitable locations for mounting tourist signages.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism Management, Hospitality Management, Ecotourism, Travel and Tour Operations Management, International Tourism Management, Hotel and Hospitality Management or a Tourism-related field from a recognized institution.
• Certificate in computer application from a recognized institution.
