The University of Eldoret is seeking to recruit Technologists in the Engineering department. The successful candidates will be responsible for providing technical support within laboratory and workshop settings, facilitating practical sessions for students, and maintaining departmental resources. This role entails ensuring a safe working environment and managing the procurement and inventory of essential equipment and materials.
Duties and Responsibilities
Instructional Support: Collect and prepare teaching and research materials to facilitate students' practical sessions. Participate in the development of laboratory manuals in collaboration with lecturers to guide students.
Procurement & Inventory: Initiate procurement processes for laboratory/workshop tools, materials, machines, and equipment. Participate in developing annual procurement plans for the department. Keep, manage, and be responsible for laboratory/workshop inventory.
Facility Management: Design laboratory/workshop arrangements and assist in carrying out various field activities. Perform regular maintenance and repair of laboratory facilities and equipment to ensure they are in good condition for use.
Safety & Supervision: Ensure students follow laboratory/workshop safety procedures to minimize accidents and breakages. Assign duties to laboratory/workshop assistants/attendants for a clean and safe work environment.
Requirements for Appointment
Diploma in the relevant Engineering field from a recognized institution.
At least five (5) years of relevant work experience.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Continuous management training lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
First Aid and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) training.
Membership registration with a relevant professional body.
