Kenyatta University is seeking a Technician to join the Quality Assurance Section. This role is responsible for supporting the Director of the NPRC by maintaining high standards in laboratory practices, ensuring the integrity of test samples, and conducting detailed chemical analyses using advanced instrumentation.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Laboratory Standards: Maintain current Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) within the section to ensure a safe and professional environment.
Sample Management: Ensure proper handling of test samples and accurate sample preparation before analysis.
Quality Documentation: Prepare and review standard operating procedures (SOPs), documents, and records as prescribed by ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards.
Analytical Testing: Carry out chemical analysis using analytical instruments such as LC-MS/MS, GC/MS, FTIR, UV-VIS, HPTLC, and XRF.
Equipment Operation: Operate general laboratory equipment including freeze-driers, rotary evaporators, and centrifuges.
Maintenance and Calibration: Conduct both periodic and routine inspection of laboratory instruments and maintain documentation of certificates from external calibrations.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: BSc. Degree from a registered and recognized University in Analytical Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry.
Secondary Education: KCSE mean Grade C+ (plus) or equivalent and above.
Experience: Relevant working experience in a busy Teaching, Research, or Quality Control Laboratory.
Technical Advantage: Experience in operating analytical equipment such as LC-MS/MS, GC/MS, FTIR, UV-VIS, HPTLC, and XRF will be an added advantage.
Skills: Must be computer literate.
