About the Role
Nova Pioneer is looking for passionate individuals for the 2026 Teaching Internship program. As an intern, you will be immersed in a world-class teaching environment that emphasizes 21st-century skills and prepares the next generation of African leaders. The role involves supporting the primary school teaching team at the Tatu International School by creating a safe, engaging, and innovative learning environment for students.
Key Responsibilities
Environment & Safety: Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable.
Instructional Planning: Plan and execute appropriate activities for the children each day according to the curriculum, schemes of work, and lesson plans.
Resource Management: Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate, and use in both learning activities and imaginative play.
Student Care: Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage.
Holistic Development: Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development, such as games.
Classroom Preparation: Prepare materials, classrooms, and other indoor/outdoor spaces to facilitate creative play, learning, motor-skill activities, and safety.
Evaluation & Reporting: Observe and evaluate each child’s progress and provide written reports to the Principal, other school leaders, and parents.
Record Keeping: Monitor and keep records/reports of the children’s progress and development.
Personalized Instruction: Instruct students individually and in groups, adapting teaching methods to meet students' varying needs and interests.
Student Assimilation: Assist arriving children in transitioning to the school environment (greeting, removing outerwear, selecting activities).
Behavior Management: Establish and enforce rules for behavior, policies, and procedures to maintain order.
Experiential Learning: Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guests, and guide students in learning from these activities.
Professional Growth: Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.
About You
Skills and Qualifications Required
Education: Currently enrolled or have completed a teacher training course (Bachelor of Education, Primary Teacher Education, ECDE, etc.).
Recommendations: Strong recommendations from high school, teacher training institution and/or an educational institution you have worked with.
Commitment: Aspire to join Nova Pioneer as an employee when the opportunity arises.
Passion: Genuine passion for children.
Technological Proficiency: Good working skills with technology such as G-Suite, Zoom, Word, Powerpoint and Excel.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Adaptability: Flexible and open to change—able to handle uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity well.
Problem-Solving: Proactive in identifying issues and addressing these thoroughly by making an effort to find appropriate solutions.
