Pwani University is seeking a qualified and experienced Technician in Gross Anatomy for a temporary/short-term locum position. This role is available for a duration of three (3) months. The successful candidate will provide essential support to the Department by maintaining the cadaveric laboratory and assisting students and faculty in anatomical practicals, demonstrations, and research activities.

Responsibilities and Duties
Student Training and Support: Assist and train students on collecting, processing, and preservation of samples in both field and laboratory settings. Assist the Gross Anatomy demonstrator in teaching and grading duties for practical sessions.
Demonstration Support: Assist the Gross Anatomy lecturer during practical demonstrations and set up classroom experiments and demonstrations.
Laboratory Maintenance: Maintain the Gross Anatomy/Cadaveric laboratory. Perform troubleshooting for machine errors, general maintenance, and internal calibration of laboratory equipment.
Preparation of Specimens: Assist in the preparation of reagents, preservative solutions, samples, and specimens required for practical classes and examinations. Assembling supplies and constructing necessary apparatus.
Assessment Support: Set up OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) and viva voce sessions for Gross Anatomy assessments.
Research and Operations: Provide technical assistance to researchers and assist in the preparation of the laboratory budget.
Compliance and Management: Prepare and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in the laboratory. Keep an updated inventory for consumables and non-consumables and participate in quality management systems.
Safety and Hygiene: Ensure proper storage of supplies and equipment. Dispose of solutions, used samples, and specimens according to institutional guidelines. Maintain an orderly and clean working area.
Requirements
Academic Qualification: A Bachelor’s Degree in Gross Anatomy or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution. Alternatively, a Diploma in Gross Anatomy or Mortuary/Mortician Services from a recognized institution will be considered.
Experience: At least two (2) years of relevant work experience in a laboratory or mortuary setting.
