As a Technician in the Food & Safety Section (Grade III/IV) at Kenyatta University's National Products Research Centre (NPRC), the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring high standards of safety and operational efficiency in food and herbal processing. The role involves maintaining Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and adhering to strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure quality and compliance in processing and packaging activities.
Responsibilities
Maintain current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) within the production and processing units.
Report to the Director, National Products Research Centre (NPRC) or his/her designated appointee.
Strictly maintain and implement set standard operating procedures (SOPs) for cleaning processing areas, packaging areas, herbal materials, and all processing equipment.
Manage and monitor an accurate inventory of all housekeeping and cleaning supplies, ensuring regular checks and replenishment.
Uphold and maintain standard operating procedures for the handling of herbal materials throughout the entire workflow, from initial processing to final packaging.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: A Diploma from a registered and recognized Institution in Food Science and Technology, Food, Nutrition and Dietetics, or Environmental Health.
KCSE Qualification: Must have attained a KCSE mean Grade C (plain) or its equivalent and above.
Experience: Possess relevant working experience in food and beverage production.
Technical Advantage: Experience in operating nutraceutical processing equipment will be an added advantage.
IT Skills: Must be computer literate.

The terms of service for this position include a basic salary and a house allowance.
