Kenyatta University is seeking a qualified Technician for the Food & Safety Section at the National Pharmaceutical Research Centre (NPRC). The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining safety standards, managing manufacturing practices, and overseeing the sourcing of raw materials for medicinal plants.
Responsibilities
Quality Management: Maintain current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) throughout the section's operations.
Documentation: Prepare and review standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent quality and safety.
Sourcing: Identify and source high-quality raw herbal materials for processing.
Production Support: Perform daily observations and monitoring of processing activities at the upscaling section.
Supply Chain Engagement: Engage and collaborate with farmers for the contractual production of medicinal plants.
Packaging: Identify and source appropriate packaging and labeling materials specific to each product developed.
Reporting: Report directly to the Director, NPRC.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: BSc. Degree from a recognized University in Food Science and Technology, or Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics.
Secondary Education: KCSE mean Grade C+ (plus) or equivalent and above.
Experience: Proven relevant working experience in a busy Teaching, Research, or food processing/related environment.
IT Skills: Must be computer literate.
Terms of Service
The terms of service include a basic salary and a house allowance.
