Grant Thornton Kenya is a leading accounting and advisory firm with a strong presence in the Kenyan market for nearly 30 years. We are seeking a highly motivated Tax Senior Associate for our Mombasa office to lead and manage tax-related projects and client relationships.
Role Overview
As a Tax Senior Associate, you will be responsible for leading, executing, and reviewing tax projects, including tax advisory, tax due diligence, and tax health checks. You will ensure high-quality deliverables within agreed timelines while acting as a primary point of contact for clients.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership: Lead and review tax projects, including advisory, due diligence, and health checks.
Tax Compliance: Prepare and review current and deferred tax computations and tax returns.
Audits & Representation: Undertake Revenue Authority (KRA) audits and represent clients in discussions and negotiations with tax authorities.
Advisory: Draft and review tax advisory opinions and perform annual and monthly tax reviews.
Mentorship: Supervise and develop tax associates, providing guidance on legislation, data analysis, and documentation.
Business Development: Contribute to proposal preparation, market analysis, and client presentations.
Process Improvement: Enhance internal methodologies and tools for tax analysis.
Communication: Assist the tax team in developing publications such as tax alerts.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
Mandatory professional qualification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent).
Minimum of four (4) years of experience in Tax consulting or administration.
At least one (1) year of experience in a Senior Associate position.
Comprehensive understanding of Kenyan Tax laws and accounting principles.
Proficiency in iTax.
