Nova Pioneer Education Group is seeking a Student Welfare Associate for Tatu Primary. In this role, you will be a culture champion, spearheading school student culture events within the school's vision and annual theme. You will engage with various stakeholders, including students, parents, and academic teams, to ensure a positive and safe learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Student Welfare and Culture
Manage student government programmes including elections, induction, training, activities, and offboarding.
Provide safe channels for students to share feedback and ideas, addressing concerns via student hours.
Manage the student happiness survey process: scheduling, administration, data analysis, and leveraging data to improve the student experience.
Lead student mentoring and buddy programmes to strengthen student relationships.
Provide structures for celebrating students who embody the Nova Pioneer culture.
Coordinate student onboarding for new students and orientation for continuing students transitioning to new levels.
Implement the Student Code of Conduct handbook and related policies in conjunction with the Deputy School Leader.
Coordinate the school’s daily routine from arrival to dismissal, ensuring baraza and recess schedules are implemented.
Lead health and safety activities, including the health and safety committee, emergency drills, and first aid training.
Support students in managing behavior expectations using a restorative approach and guide SEL (Social-Emotional Learning) application.
Parent and Stakeholder Engagement
Manage the family satisfaction survey process and leverage data for experience improvement.
Coordinate onboarding for new families and offboarding for exiting families.
Work with Administrative staff and Admissions to coordinate and track new enrollments.
Coordinate beginning-of-year student onboarding activities such as Week Zero.
Academic & Student Affairs Coordination
Conduct professional development and train teachers on managing student behavior and character building.
Own Student Leadership Development: create plans and systems for teaching leadership to students and support teacher training and feedback.
Coach and manage the Student Affairs team, including School Nurses and School Counselors.
Collaborate with School Counselors and teachers to create individual student behavior and support plans.
Coordinate school duty rotas and non-academic student life experiences (e.g., safety drills, transitions).
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Psychology, Sociology, or the Humanities; a degree in Education is highly desirable.
Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills built on trust and respect.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proven track record of success in leading teams at the entry or mid-level.
Strong coaching and people management capabilities.
Exceptional planning and organizational skills (e.g., managing surveys, student lists, and event coordination).
Proficiency in using technology.
Critical thinker who is flexible, adaptable, innovative, and creative.
Passionate about building strong relationships with students and parents.
Ability to work in a high-energy, confidential setting.
