The Strategic Content Coordination Assistant works under the direct supervision of the Strategic Content Coordination Specialist (SCCS) or PAO designee. The role is responsible for the production of all visual and multimedia elements of the Mission's public engagement, including design, creation, and acquisition of customized visual and multimedia content disseminated online, in person, or via traditional broadcast. The incumbent creates compelling visual content for outreach materials by assessing the Kenyan media environment, public preferences, and the impact of Mission materials.\n\n### Key Responsibilities\n\nImplementation (70% of time)\n- Plan, design, and create visual, written, and multimedia elements for Mission engagement (videos, audio, storyboards, graphics, photos, etc.).\n- Develop content for embassy online channels including the website and social media.\n- Create written narratives for specific content packages targeting social media campaigns and digital media analysis.\n\nStrategic Planning, Analysis, Evaluation, and Recommendations (10% of time)\n- Research and analyze countrywide and regional digital trends to identify changing audience preferences.\n- Schedule production of multimedia products at least six months in advance based on the editorial calendar.\n- Analyze impact of prior products to fine-tune future projects and identify performance objectives.\n- Contribute to the Integrated Country Strategy (ICS) and Public Diplomacy Implementation Plan (PDIP).\n\nIntra- and Interagency Coordination (10% of time)\n- Build collaborative relationships across the Mission to expand awareness of the power of visual and multimedia material.\n- Ensure the embassy website is up to date and current for the Kenyan public.\n- Support American Spaces and other PD Section staff in developing multimedia components.\n\nAdministrative Functions (10% of time)\n- Track licenses and equipment acquisitions and maintain inventory of Digital Production (DP) equipment.\n- Draft office correspondence in English and Kiswahili.\n- Provide informal interpretation and translation when required.\n- Serve as Grants Officer Representative (GOR) for virtual exchange projects.\n\n### Requirements and Qualifications\n\nEducation:\n- An associate’s degree or two years of full-time university studies in design, advertising, mass communications, or local equivalent is required.\n\nExperience:\n- At least four years of progressively responsible experience in design, creation, and packaging of visual and multimedia content for digital marketing, advertising, or mass communications.\n- Extensive experience as an advanced end user of industry-standard desktop and mobile software applications and internet technologies.\n- Experience in integrating visual content into web content management systems.\n\nOther Requirements:\n- Candidates must provide a portfolio of original work demonstrating visual and multimedia design competence.\n- Ability to obtain and hold a security certificate or Public Trust security clearance.\n- Subject to a background investigation and potentially a pre-employment medical exam.\n\n### How to Apply\nInterested and qualified candidates should apply online through the U.S. Embassy to Kenya recruitment portal at https://www.myjobmag.co.ke/apply-now/1184330 which will redirect you to the official Electronic Recruitment Application (ERA) site at erajobs.state.gov.
