Role Overview
Our client, a leading supermarket, is seeking a competent and agile Store Manager to oversee all retail operations. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading the store team, managing inventory, ensuring compliance, and driving the achievement of retail targets in a fast-paced market environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Financial Management: Develop and implement comprehensive plans to achieve retail chain targets. Prepare and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and vendors.
Inventory & Stock Control: Manage stock turnover using FIFO (First-In-First-Out) principles. Identify low-stock, obsolete, and slow-moving items to take appropriate action. Update the computer system with all stock movements and oversee the receipt and stacking of goods according to layout standards.
Procurement: Procure high-quality goods while maintaining transparency and adhering to ethical practices.
Team Leadership: Lead and support the retail team, managing grievances, performance, and leave schedules while providing professional guidance.
Auditing & Reporting: Participate in regular stocktaking exercises (monthly, quarterly, and annual), address variance queries, and maintain up-to-date records. Analyze category and brand performance on a weekly and monthly basis.
Market & Customer Analysis: Analyze consumer behavior and preferences. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging marketing technologies, and best practices.
Brand & Compliance: Enhance brand visibility through awareness campaigns. Ensure the store complies with all regulations and that all operating licenses are kept current.
Safety & Security: Maintain strict safety and security protocols for the store and its merchandise.
Job Specifications and Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field.
At least 3 years of experience in Retail Management.
Demonstrated expertise in ethical and transparent procurement processes.
Knowledge of the SAGE system or similar retail management software is a distinct advantage.
