Job Description
UNICEF is looking for a Social Policy Specialist - Social Protection Systems (P-4) based in Nairobi, Kenya. The position focuses on providing technical leadership and management support in strengthening social protection systems, policy design, operational advisory, and public policy documentation.
Role Overview
The Social Policy Specialist supports UNICEF's efforts in strengthening social protection systems to improve child well-being, address poverty, and enhance social welfare interventions in developing and fragile contexts.
Minimum Requirements
Education: Master's degree or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in Public Policy, Labor and Social Protection, International Relations, or related field.
Work Experience: Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience in Social Protection, international development, strengthening social protection systems, and written analysis/documentation of public policy.
Experience managing and/or providing advisory support for strengthening social protection systems (including policy, programme design, and operations) in international development settings.
Experience working in a developing country.
Experience in written analysis and documentation of public policy work.
Language: Proficiency in English is required.

Assets & Desirables
Experience in social protection operational programme design, policy drafting, system strengthening, financing analysis, policy advocacy, links to other sectors, and capacity building.
Relevant experience in a United Nations system agency or organization.
Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language.
Relevant experience at the country level, particularly in development, fragile settings, and humanitarian contexts.
