World Vision Kenya is seeking a Project Officer - Livelihoods and Resilience to coordinate and support the implementation of field-level activities across thematic areas including youth-focused resilience activities, Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA), Good Agronomic Practices (GAP), ecosystem restoration, Market Systems Development, and financial inclusion.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Implementation
- Coordinate and support implementation of field-level activities across thematic areas including youth focused resilience activities, CSA, Good Agronomic Practices (GAP), Ecosystem restoration, Market System Development, financial inclusion.
- Support the development of detailed work plans and activity schedules aligned with project outputs.
- Liaise with Sub County technical teams, implementing partners, farmer organizations, and aggregators to ensure timely delivery of project interventions.
- Ensure project activities are adapted to the ASAL context, including seasonal calendars, weather patterns, drought cycles, and farmers mobility.
- Promote youth led agri-preneural opportunities suited for contexts such as Makueni.
- Monitor progress against targets and in liaison with the relevant County technical departments and the Project Coordinator adjust implementation strategies as needed.
- Support engagement with Baringo County Government to leverage resources for program sustainability, including on-ground advocacy for policies on climate-smart agriculture (CSA), inclusive procurement, and agriculture.
- Facilitate partnerships with private sector actors, insurance service providers, financial institutions, and government for capacity development in CSA, inputs, financial services, and market access.
- Support context-specific media communications on project activities and integrate messaging with other components for field outreach/farmer field days.
Quality Assurance - M & E, Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the development and use of M&E tools to track project indicators and outcomes.
- Collect, analyze, and report data on project performance, including success stories and lessons learned.
- Maintain accurate documentation of project activities, outputs, and results.
- Participate in periodic reviews and evaluations to assess project impact and inform future programming.
- Develop strategies for collecting reliable data in hard-to-reach or low-connectivity areas.
Advocacy, Engagement, Partnership and Networking
- Represent the project in local forums, technical working groups, and coordination meetings (County, Sub-County and Ward levels) as appropriate or as advised by the Project Coordinator.
- Enhance partnerships with government and private sector players, partners to leverage on technical capacity development for farmers, extension support, inputs, financial services and market access.
- Advocate for policies that promote climate-smart agriculture, Agri-nutrition, market systems development, financial inclusion, and climate resilience.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement including government agencies, farmer service centres, private sector actors, and farmer-based organizations.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships to enhance project sustainability and scalability.
- Promote linkages between smallholder farmers and service providers (e.g., input suppliers, financial institutions, digital platforms).
Capacity Building
- Take lead in project staff, farmers, market actors, aggregators capacities development through trainings and other information sharing avenues.
- Support the development of training materials and modules tailored to local contexts.
- Strengthen institutional capacity of farmer cooperatives, Farmer Service Centres (FSCs), and VSLAs/YSLAs.
- Promote adoption of digital tools and climate-smart technologies through targeted capacity building.
- Mentor field staff, community mobilisers, and extension officers to ensure quality delivery of extension services.
- Prioritize inclusion of youth and women in training and leadership roles, especially in VSLAs and YSLAs.
Required Education, Skills and Experience
- Minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Agribusiness Management, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extension or a closely related field from a recognized university.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in project implementation, preferably in CSA, livelihoods, or resilience programming.
- Strong understanding of Market led value chain development, Agricultural extension models.
- Experience working with youth led farmer organizations, cooperatives, private sector players and local institutions.
- Excellent communication, Training facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience with donor regulations such as WFP, KOICA will be an added advantage.
