The Sheetmetal Worker is responsible for fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing various sheet metal products and systems. This includes working on ducts, vents, roofs, and gutters, ensuring all structures meet safety and quality standards and adhere to technical specifications. This role may involve international deployment.
Key Deliverables and Responsibilities
Fabrication and Assembly: Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and systems such as ducts, vents, roofs, gutters, and other structures.
Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to prepare materials and carry out required jobs.
Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain various sheet metal tools and equipment, including shears, brakes, drills, and welding machines.
Precision Work: Measure, cut, and bend sheet metal to specific dimensions using manual or computerized equipment as required.
Joining Components: Assemble parts by welding, bolting, and soldering components to ensure structural integrity and functionality.
Quality Assurance: Ensure all products and systems adhere to established specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements. Inspect completed work to ensure proper installation and alignment.
Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, adjustments, and repairs on sheet metal tools and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Specialized Installation: Install and maintain HVAC ducts and systems, roofing panels, and other architectural sheet metal components.
Collaboration: Work closely with team members, supervisors, and contractors to coordinate project tasks and meet deadlines.
Safety: Maintain a clean and organized work area while following all safety regulations and procedures.
Requirements and Qualifications
Experience: 1-3 years of relevant experience in sheet metal fabrication, installation, or repair.
Education: High school diploma (KCSE) or equivalent.
Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of sheet metal tools, equipment, and techniques, including cutting, bending, welding, and soldering.
Blueprint Reading: Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
Physical Capacity: Ability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, and perform physically demanding tasks in various working conditions.
Travel Readiness: Must be in possession of a valid passport (valid for a minimum of one year at the time of hiring) and be able to travel internationally.
Medical Status: Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for the duration of deployment.
