The Electrical Technician (FMCG) is responsible for planned maintenance, troubleshooting, and instrumentation within a factory setting. The role involves being pro-active to prevent breakdowns, installing new equipment, and improving equipment performance. The technician will handle electrical and instrumentation faults, calibrate specialized equipment, and maintain date coding machinery, ensuring machine availability to meet production targets while adhering to strict safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance and Installation: Carry out planned maintenance on plant machinery. Install, service, and maintain both existing and new equipment. Ensure machine availability for production.
Troubleshooting: Attend to electrical and instrumentation faults and breakdowns promptly. Analyze and investigate recurrent faults to implement permanent fixes.
Instrumentation and Calibration: Take part in calibration of all CCP equipment and instrumentation (Metal detectors/X-ray/etc.). Handle fault finding and programming on instrumentation equipment, PLC’s and VSD,s.
Project and Quality Management: Manage small projects and improve low-cost automation. Participate in new project installations and DMAIC processes.
Safety and Standards: Follow lock-out and permit procedure to be used at all times. Ensure work complies with ERC standards and internal engineering, quality, and SHE standards. Ensure any dangerous conditions are made safe immediately.
Administration: Complete the necessary administrative tasks for maintenance management systems like AMM, SHE, and GSTDs.
Team Support: Undertake to work shift, standby and overtime as per company requirements. Provide coaching and mentoring to production staff on instrumentation equipment.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
Certification: Must have at least a basic EPRA Certificate.
Experience: A minimum of two years’ experience in Electrical & instrumentation field.
Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of PLC’s and maintenance practices.
Computer Literacy: Computer literate (Excel, Word, PowerPoint SAP, SAM and AMM).
Soft Skills: Good interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and under pressure, team player, and strong analytical & problem solving skills.
