Job Description
Role Overview
The Senior Systems Analyst at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) is responsible for the design, upgrade, and maintenance of robust backend systems, platforms, and databases. The primary purpose of this role is to support the hosting, access, and analytics of the Kenya Education Cloud, ensuring infrastructure efficiency and data security.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Cloud Infrastructure & Architecture: Lead eLearning Cloud projects, including the design, deployment, and performance monitoring of ICT Cloud Architecture Applications and Infrastructure. Assess vendors and develop test strategies for new hardware.
Strategy & Planning: Define eLearning Cloud infrastructure strategies, architectures, and processes. Analyze organization-wide business requirements by partnering with key stakeholders to develop technical solutions.
Information Security: Design, implement, and maintain the Institute’s Information Security Policy. Oversee best practices for applications on the cloud and investigate security breaches.
Management & Supervision: Supervise the development and implementation of ICT eLearning strategies, departmental annual budgets, procurement plans, and work plans. Oversee the management of outsourced cloud services and service level agreements (SLAs).
Technical Operations: Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, supervise data analytics systems, networks, and database security systems. Implement controls for resource deployment.
Disaster Recovery: Develop and manage the eLearning systems disaster recovery plan.
Training: Develop and implement cloud infrastructure training and awareness programs for staff.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Technology, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, or a related field from a recognized Institution.
Professional Certifications (Added Advantage):
Databases: Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) for Database Administration.
Cloud Architecture: Certification in Cloud Administration.
Storage Solutions: Certification in Storage Systems Administration.
Work Experience: Minimum of three (3) years in the grade of Senior Information, Communications Technology (ICT) Officer OR six (6) years in Information, Communications Technology (ICT) or a comparable relevant position in the Public Sector or Private Sector.
Performance: Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
