Job Description
This Senior Sales Analyst role is a high-impact commercial and strategic position supporting UK retail leadership. The primary purpose of the role is to drive profitability through data-driven insights, owning the analysis of sales performance, trade spend effectiveness, and pricing strategies. The successful candidate will act as a trusted commercial voice, providing visibility into retailer-level profitability and identifying opportunities for growth and margin improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Performance & Profitability
Analyse sales performance across products, retailers, channels, and regions.
Model contribution margins, accounting for rebates, funding structures, and settlement terms.
Identify margin leakage and structural inefficiencies to improve commercial performance.
Distinguish between gross revenue and true net commercial results.
Provide retailer-level and portfolio-level profitability visibility.
Trade Spend & Pricing Strategy
Evaluate promotional ROI and incrementality of marketing investments.
Assess pricing architecture and elasticity to provide grounded recommendations.
Analyse trade marketing investment effectiveness.
Forecasting & Trading Rhythm
Support budgeting and forecasting through structured scenario modelling.
Contribute commercial insights to UK trading and review meetings.
Monitor sell-through trends, seasonal indicators, and commercial risks.
Enhance forecast accuracy and transparency.
Market & Competitive Intelligence
Track competitor pricing and promotional activities.
Identify whitespace opportunities and emerging market risks.
Translate market movements into strategic business recommendations.
Communication & Stakeholder Management
Present complex analysis confidently to senior UK stakeholders.
Translate financial mechanics into accessible commercial narratives.
Challenge business assumptions constructively using evidence-based insights.
Operate as a trusted commercial voice within the business.
Requirements and Qualifications
BA/BSc/HND degree qualification.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in a Commercial Analyst, Sales Analyst, or Category Analyst role.
Proven experience within retail, ecommerce, or FMCG environments.
Exposure to multi-channel and margin-sensitive trading environments.
Strong understanding of commercial P&L and contribution margin mechanics.
Experience analysing trade spend and retailer funding structures.
Confident in interrogating pricing and promotional performance.
A strong bias toward action and decision support.
