Role Overview
The Senior Manager, Client Account Management is responsible for ensuring that the Client Account Management Section meets its functional responsibilities efficiently and effectively. The role holder also oversees the Accounts Operations, Clients Relations & Marketing, and Office Administration units.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Account Operations & Compliance: Oversee Account Opening, Amendments, and Updates operations while adhering to Know Your Customer (KYC) due diligence, and managing overall KYC/AML/CFT compliance processes for the section.
- Portfolio & Investor Management: Manage Indirect/Retail, Direct/Wholesale/Foreign/Diaspora Accounts and Portfolios, and track investor numbers in line with established targets.
- Risk Management & Control: Implement internal controls to manage and mitigate operational, reputational, legal, and information risks, ensuring regular assessment of controls.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary liaison with key stakeholders including Commercial Banks, Government Departments, Micro-Finance institutions, Individuals, and local/foreign Custodians.
- Policy & Strategy Development: Regularly review policy and procedures for the Division, contributing to broader departmental policies and strategy to drive continuous service improvement.
- Records & Mandate Management: Oversee the Records/Document Management process in the Division, ensuring safety and proper custody of Mandates.
- Regulatory Compliance & CSD: Review and interpret complex financial sector laws and regulations; advise the Department on CSD investor compliance with AML/CFT, KYC, and CPMI/IOSCO Principles.
- Government Securities Management: Plan, organize, integrate, supervise, and coordinate activities and resources relating to the management of Government Securities and client accounts.
- Customer Experience & Public Awareness: Conduct investor education and awareness campaigns for Government Securities through trade fairs, brochures, banners, and media write-ups. Support client onboarding and monitor client experience scores.
- People Management & Leadership: Mentor, coach, and mobilize section staff; oversee training on work procedures and policies; drive staff performance, succession planning, and capacity building.
- Business Continuity: Review Business Continuity Programs in coordination with Strategy and Risk Departments.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Social Sciences, Finance, Banking, Public Relations, Communication, Marketing, Information Science, or a related field from a recognized university.
- Postgraduate Degree: Master’s Degree in Business, Social Sciences, Finance, Banking, Public Relations, or related field is an added advantage.
- Professional Qualification: Full professional qualification in a relevant field of study.
- Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years' experience in Bank Operations.
