Murang’a University of Technology (MUT) is seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Lecturer in the field of Law. This is a Grade 13 academic position. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the university's academic excellence through teaching, research, and postgraduate supervision. The role involves curriculum development, seeking research funding, and maintaining high scholarly standards through publications in refereed journals.
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality teaching and instruction to students at the university level.
Supervise postgraduate students through to the successful completion of their research and degrees.
Conduct original research and publish findings in reputable, refereed scholarly journals.
Actively identify and attract research funds and grants for the department and university projects.
Contribute to the development and review of academic programs in the field of Law.
Maintain active participation in professional bodies and community service.
Requirements
Education: An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification (or a Master’s degree qualification in special cases) in Law or a relevant field from an accredited and recognized university.
Experience: At least three (3) years of teaching experience at the university level as a lecturer OR six (6) years of research/industry experience.
Research & Publications: A minimum of thirty-two (32) publication points as a lecturer or equivalent, with at least twenty-four (24) points from refereed scholarly journals.
Supervision: Successfully supervised to completion at least three (3) postgraduate students as a lecturer or equivalent.
Funding: Proven ability to attract research funds as a lecturer or equivalent.
Professional Membership: Registration with a relevant professional body (where applicable).
