Kaimosi Friends University (KAFU) is seeking a Senior Lecturer for the Statistics department (Grade 13). This is a senior academic role requiring a candidate with a strong commitment to teaching excellence, original research, and the mentorship of postgraduate students. The successful candidate will contribute to the university's mission of being a center of excellence in teaching and research innovation.
Responsibilities and Duties
Deliver high-quality lectures and instructions to students in the Statistics department.
Conduct original and impactful research in the field of Statistics.
Maintain a consistent record of publications in refereed scholarly journals.
Supervise and mentor postgraduate students (Masters and PhD) through to the completion of their degrees.
Participate in community service and university outreach programs.
Engage in administrative duties and committee work as assigned by the department or university.
Contribute to curriculum development and review to ensure academic standards are met.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in Statistics or a relevant field from an accredited and recognized university.
Teaching Experience: At least three (3) years of teaching experience at the Lecturer level or equivalent.
Industry Experience: Alternatively, a minimum of six (6) years of relevant industry experience may be considered for appointment.
Professional Registration: Must be registered with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
Supervision: Must have supervised at least three (3) postgraduate students to completion as a Lecturer or equivalent.
Publications: A minimum of thirty-two (32) publication points as a Lecturer or equivalent, with at least twenty-four (24) of those points earned from refereed scholarly journals.
Community Service: Demonstrated evidence of involvement in community service.
Research/Industry Candidates: Applicants coming from research institutions or industry must meet the specific minimum point requirements for their respective subcategory to qualify for appointment.
