Job Description
Embu County Government is seeking a Senior Assistant Director of Medical Services/Medical Specialist 1 specializing in Pathology. This is a high-level medical role within the county's public health service, focusing on the delivery of specialized diagnostic services and laboratory leadership.
Responsibilities
Provide expert pathological diagnostics and interpretation of laboratory results to support clinical decision-making.
Manage and oversee the operations of the pathology department and laboratory services.
Ensure adherence to laboratory quality assurance, safety standards, and medical regulations.
Provide technical guidance and supervision to junior medical officers and laboratory staff.
Collaborate with other medical specialists and departments to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Participate in the development and implementation of county health policies and strategic plans.
Engage in medical research and continuous professional development initiatives.
Requirements
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Master's degree in Pathology or an equivalent medical specialization from a recognized institution.
Registration and a valid practicing license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
Must possess a National Identity Card.
Provision of Academic and Professional Certificates along with Testimonials.
Must satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya by providing valid clearance documents from:
Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI)
