The Pharmacy and Poisons Board is the Drug Regulatory Authority established under the Pharmacy and Poisons Act, Chapter 244 of the Laws of Kenya. The Board regulates the Practice of Pharmacy and the Manufacture and Trade in drugs and poisons, aiming to implement regulatory measures to achieve the highest standards of safety and efficacy.
Role Overview
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for advising, implementing, and interpreting financial policies and regulations within the board. This role involves reviewing policies, rules, and corporate strategies to maintain a sound financial management system, preparing budgets, and managing financial controls.
Duties and Responsibilities
Advising, implementing, and interpreting financial policies and regulations.
Implementing and reviewing policies, rules, regulations, and corporate strategies for a sound financial management system.
Providing input in the preparation of the Board’s budget.
Preparing projected cash flow requirements for the Board.
Ensuring proper and optimal financial control systems are in place.
Monitoring accurate recording of financial transactions.
Responding to audit queries and carrying out financial analysis.
Initiating the preparation of financial expenditure returns.
Ensuring debt collection and supervising credit control.
Collecting and collating data on financial estimates and determining the Board's aggregate.
Maintaining accurate books of investment funds and revenue accounting.
Compiling revenue reports and undertaking performance measurement within the department.
Coordinating allocations within budget programmes.
Preparing the development of Budget Policy and Policy analysis and managing voted funds.
Planning and budgeting for the Board.
Person Specifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
Served in the grade of Accountant for a minimum period of four (4) years.
A Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting/Finance Option), Business Administration (Accounting Option), or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
Part II of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Membership of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants Kenya (ICPAK).
Proficiency in computer applications.
Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
