Job Description
UN Women is seeking a Security and Safety Analyst to maintain and improve the organization's Security and Safety Mainstreaming package. The successful candidate will be responsible for updating training modules, manuals, and tools, while ensuring alignment with the United Nations Security Management System (UNSMS). The role involves coordinating the delivery of educational packages globally, tracking security integration in program planning, and managing internal communication platforms. The analyst will also support humanitarian response programming and Security Risk Management (SRM) processes, including gender and disability-sensitive safety products.
Key Responsibilities
Security Mainstreaming & Training Delivery
Maintain the UN Women Security and Safety Mainstreaming package (training modules, manuals, processes, and tools) and perform regular updates.
Prepare information briefs, presentations, and checklists on security mainstreaming using approved templates.
Coordinate the delivery of educational packages throughout HQ and field locations.
Support the preparation and distribution of tailored training sessions for offices, particularly in crisis situations.
Track the integration of security and safety mainstreaming into UN Women Planning Programme and Guidance, workflows, and project timelines.
Respond to routine technical enquiries and refer complex matters to the Global Security Advisor.
UNSMS Policy Alignment Support
Assist in maintaining alignment between UN Women procedures and the UNSMS and OSH policies.
Manage communication channels with UNSMS representatives, schedule meetings, and prepare agendas.
Attend Inter-Agency Security Management Network Working Group meetings and prepare summaries.
Strategic Communications & Intranet Management
Update and maintain the UN Women Security & Safety Services Section Intranet portal.
Produce communication materials such as flyers, presentations, and graphics using approved brand guidelines.
Serve as the coordination point for routine communications with the UN Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS).
Humanitarian Response & Risk Management
Compile information on security mainstreaming in humanitarian response programming.
Maintain guidance documents related to SRM, OHS, Business Continuity, and Crisis Management.
Coordinate with Humanitarian Response colleagues to gather information on security needs in training and programming.
Support the implementation of the Programme Criticality (PC) process and review submissions for completeness.
Requirements
Education: Master’s degree or equivalent in security risk management, international relations, media/communications, security information management, political science, social sciences, or a related discipline. A first-level university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience: A minimum of one year of progressively responsible professional experience in security, safety, political science, international relations, or communications.
Specific Experience: Experience in preparing presentations, drafting correspondence, and updating intranet content is required. Experience with content management systems (CMS) and MS Office Suite is required.
Preferred Experience: Previous experience within the United Nations or an International Organisation is highly desirable. Experience with web-based ERP systems (preferably Oracle Cloud) is an asset.
