We are seeking reflective, collaborative educators with strong expertise in inclusive education, curriculum differentiation, Humanities and Literacy instruction, and Kenyan Sign Language. Key Responsibilities
Kenyan Sign Language Instruction: Act as the lead teacher for Kenyan Sign Language classes across the high school, including planning, teaching, and assessment.
Co-Teaching & Collaboration: Collaborate with subject teachers to co-plan, co-deliver, and co-assess lessons aligned to curriculum goals and inclusive education principles.
Curriculum Differentiation: Adapt and differentiate learning materials and instructional strategies to meet diverse learner needs.
Cognitive Development: Support the development of conceptual understanding, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Assessment: Implement mastery-based learning and assessment approaches to ensure all learners can engage meaningfully.
Case Management: Act as a case manager for individual learning plans or support updates with the designated case manager.
Communication & Monitoring: Monitor, document, and communicate learner progress with teachers, families, and the learning support team.
Targeted Support: Provide targeted small group or individual support during lessons where needed.
Classroom Environment: Contribute to a safe, respectful, and engaging classroom environment that fosters curiosity and independence.
Whole-School Participation: Participate in professional learning, collaborative planning, and whole school initiatives.
Qualifications and Minimum Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or Bachelor of Education with Certification in Special Needs Education.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in an inclusive or special education setting.
Subject Expertise: Demonstrated experience in Humanities, Literacy, and Kenyan Sign Language instruction.
Licensing: Valid TSC (Teacher Service Commission) Number for Kenyan applicants.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of inclusive education practices and learner support strategies.
Skills: Excellent collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Alignment: Strong alignment with Woodland Star’s mission and values.
