The TVET Directorate of Amref International University wishes to engage TVET trainers in Environmental Sciences on a part-time basis. The trainer is expected to be available to teach, assess, and mentor students to facilitate effective competency acquisition.
Principal Responsibilities
Instruction: Instruct trainees in the specific course(s)/units in adherence to the respective curriculum and occupational standards. Plan, conduct, and assess practicals in the assigned course units.
Lesson Planning: Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and give lecture notes. Attend all assigned class contact hours.
Assessments & Exams: Prepare internal exams, conduct validation of the exams, and carry out continuous assessments. Mark, grade, and enter the grades into the ERP for the assigned units. Invigilate internal and external examinations.
Mentorship & Supervision: Supervise and assess trainees in the course area and during industrial attachment. Monitor class attendance records and provide mentorship to students.
Records Management: Maintain appropriate records and make them available as required by the directorate and TVET CDACC or any other relevant body.
Other Duties: Perform any other duty as may be assigned by the Head of Department (HOD) or Director.
Qualifications and Requirements
Academic Qualification: Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences.
Teaching Experience: Relevant teaching experience of at least 2 years in a TVET institution.
Certification: Must be a holder of a Certificate in Pedagogy or registered by TVETA as a trainer.
Industry Experience: 2 years of industry experience will be an added advantage.
