The TVET Directorate of Amref International University (AMIU) wishes to engage part-time TVET trainers in Counselling Psychology. The trainer is expected to be available to teach, assess, and mentor students.
Principal Responsibilities
Instruction: Instruct trainees in the specific course(s) and units in strict adherence to the respective curriculum and occupational standards.
Practicals: Plan, conduct, and assess practical sessions in the assigned course units.
Course Preparation: Develop comprehensive schemes of work, detailed lesson plans, and provide lecture notes.
Examinations & Assessments: Prepare internal exams, conduct exam validation, and carry out continuous assessments. Adhere strictly to the exam preparation and processing schedule.
Grading: Mark, grade, and enter academic results into the ERP system for assigned units.
Supervision: Supervise and assess trainees in their respective course areas and during industrial attachments.
Exam Preparation: Prepare trainees for external examinations by imparting required practical technical skills for effective competency acquisition.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate academic and class attendance records, ensuring they are available for review as required by the Directorate, TVET CDACC, or other regulatory bodies.
Class Engagement: Attend all assigned class contact hours, invigilate internal and external exams, and monitor student attendance.
Mentorship: Provide mentorship and guidance to students.
Other Duties: Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department (HOD) or Director.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Arts in Counselling Psychology.
Licensure: Registered and licensed by the Counsellors and Psychologists Board.
Teaching Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of relevant teaching experience in a TVET institution.
Certifications: Must hold a Certificate in Pedagogy or be registered by TVETA as a trainer.
Industry Experience: Two (2) years of industry experience will be highly advantageous.
