West Kenya Sugar Limited is seeking a dedicated Safety Officer to join its operations. The role is critical in maintaining a safe work environment, ensuring compliance with health and environmental regulations, and fostering a proactive safety culture across the plant.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Enforcement: Maintain and enforce high safety standards and ensure strict compliance with legal and internal safety protocols.
Inspections & Audits: Conduct regular workplace inspections, safety audits, and equipment checks to identify and mitigate hazards.
Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into workplace accidents or near-misses, determine root causes, and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
Security & Access Control: Manage access control systems and plant security to ensure the safety of personnel and assets.
Safety Culture: Actively promote a strong safety culture through regular training, engagement, and awareness programs.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: A Diploma or Degree in Safety, Security, or Environmental studies from a recognized institution.
Professional Certification: NEBOSH certification is mandatory for this safety-focused position.
Experience:
A minimum of 10–15 years of professional experience in Safety and Environmental management.
(Applicants with 5 years of experience in Security-focused roles may also be considered if relevant).
