About the Role
Jumba Ruins Monsoon is seeking a dedicated and professional Restaurant Waitress to join our team on-site in Mombasa County, Kenya.
Please Note: Monsoon is a seafood restaurant, not a beach bar or a pub. As such, drinks are only served to clients having meals.
The Restaurant Waitress will welcome guests, present menus, take food and beverage orders, and provide attentive table service throughout the dining experience. The ideal candidate will support a relaxed, friendly atmosphere that reflects the restaurant's beachfront setting.
Key Responsibilities
Welcome guests, present menus, and explain menu items and daily specials.
Take accurate food and beverage orders and coordinate with kitchen and bar staff.
Provide attentive and high-quality table service throughout the meal.
Address and handle guest questions, requests, or concerns professionally.
Support a relaxed, friendly, and welcoming atmosphere.
Process customer payments accurately.
Ensure tables, dining area, and service stations remain clean, tidy, and well-organized.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: BA/BSc/HND qualification.
Customer Service: Strong customer service skills with a friendly, professional approach to guests.
Experience: Experience or familiarity with food and beverage service operations, ideally in a restaurant/hospitality environment. Previous experience in coastal or high-volume restaurants is a distinct advantage.
Communication: Clear verbal communication in English is required; knowledge of Swahili or other languages is an asset.
Physical Attributes: Ability to stand for extended periods and carry food/beverage trays safely.
Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Attributes: Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working in an informal yet fast-paced environment.
Knowledge: Basic understanding of cooking or food preparation concepts is a plus for describing dishes and specials.
