Job Description
Marriott International is seeking a Reservations Agent to join our team in Nairobi. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing all reservation requests, changes, and cancellations received via phone, fax, or mail. This role involves identifying guest reservation needs, determining appropriate room types, and verifying availability and rates while explaining policies to callers. The agent will act as a key sales representative, applying techniques to maximize property revenue and ensuring all guest requests are documented and addressed with the highest level of professional service.
Key Responsibilities
Reservation Management: Process all reservation requests, changes, and cancellations; verify room types, rates, and availability.
Sales & Revenue: Follow sales techniques to maximize revenue; input and access data in the reservation system; indicate special room reservation types (e.g., complimentary rooms, employee discounts) by inputting correct codes.
Guest Services: Identify guest needs; explain guarantee, special rate, and cancellation policies; accommodate and document special requests; answer questions about property facilities and services.
Operational Standards: Follow all company policies and procedures; ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets and guest privacy.
Communication: Welcome and acknowledge all guests; anticipate and address service needs; thank guests with genuine appreciation; speak with others using clear and professional language; answer telephones using appropriate etiquette.
Teamwork: Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support the team to reach common goals; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees.
Physical Requirements: Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 10 pounds without assistance.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management or a related course of study.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of professional experience, with at least 2 years specifically within a 5-star hotel environment.
Standards: Compliance with quality assurance expectations and standards is required.
