
Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI)
The Research Officer (NEWRISK) will contribute to the development, implementation and review of research protocols related to NEWRISK WP4, ensuring alignment with the project's strategic goals. Based in Kilifi, this role involves data management, stakeholder engagement, and support in project management to ensure quality outputs and timely completion of deliverables.\n\n### Key Responsibilities\n\n- Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of research protocols for NEWRISK WP4.\n- Participate in data collection, analysis, storage, and interpretation to identify research insights.\n- Develop and implement community and stakeholder engagement activities as per the project’s Community Engagement and Involvement (CEI) Gantt Chart.\n- Network with internal departments, research groups, and external stakeholders to support project management.\n- Contribute to scientific publishing in reputable journals, preparing policy briefs, manuscripts, and blogs; disseminate findings at meetings and conferences.\n- Develop learning materials (handouts, apps, videos) and conduct orientations and training sessions.\n- Provide day-to-day supervision, coordination, and mentorship to assigned staff.\n- Ensure adherence to internal ethical protocols and external legal/regulatory requirements.\n- Provide technical support to the Community Engagement Lead and PI in identifying funding opportunities and developing grant proposals.\n\n### Requirements and Qualifications\n\n- Minimum Master’s Degree in Global Health, Public Health, or any other relevant field from a recognized university (Mandatory).\n- At least three (3) years of experience in community and public engagement initiatives at a reputable research institution (Mandatory).\n- Demonstrated experience in the use of current technology in Health Research (Mandatory).\n- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; strong analytical skills with the ability to deliver quality outputs within strict timelines.\n- Strong team coordination and decision-making skills; ability to work with diverse, multidisciplinary teams.\n- Demonstrated high levels of integrity and confidentiality (Mandatory).\n\n### How to Apply\n\nInterested and qualified candidates should apply online through the KEMRI e-recruitment portal: .
